I am training for a marathon and run my long run on Saturdays. This week I was doing 14 miles with my son which was the longest I have ever run in my life. I was a little tired when I entered town but was feeling good running just a little under a 9 minute mile. We were running on the sidewalk and as I approached a curb, I landed a little funny. I lost my balance slightly but recovered. As we approached the next curb I was trying to show my son how I landed on the last one. This time I missed it entirely falling directly onto the sidewalk face first. My front crown broke off and my lip, nose and forehead took the full force of the fall. I was dazed for a bit but after a few minutes was able to run the rest of the way home, bleeding from my mashed up lip and abraded , lacerated nose. I made 13.67 instead of 14. I went to the emergency room to see if I needed stitches. They just needed to glue a spot on my nose. I looked even worse than I normally do with the missing tooth a la Alfred Newman and the face that looked like truck ran over it. Luckily the dentist was able to rebuild the broken tooth this morning. I even went for a 4 mile run this afternoon.
